The map shown here covers the southern half of the OHV area, most of which was not affected by the Hayman Fire. The trails are fun and the scenery is great. It would take several days of hard riding to cover all the trails in the area.

I haven’t actually ridden this trail since it was done for the ATV Central Mountain book in 2007. But, last summer 2018, I drove my Jeep down 357A from Waypoint 10 to Waypoint 02. The area at the bottom around Waypoint 02, where 717 crosses was a real mess. I saw riders trying to go up 717A from Waypoint 02 and they were turning around due to a major washout. In other places where 717 crossed, everything looked fine. I know the trail is more popular than ever, based on the number of ATV and UTV rentals available in Woodland Park. For up-to-date information on Rule Ridge, a trail crossed by 717 many times, see our new 4th Edition Guide to Colorado Backroads & 4-Wheel-Drive Trails, set to be released April of 2019. There’s a picture of the 717 washout on page 203.
