The east side of the Rubicon provides nonstop challenges and extreme fun. Water can play a bigger role where trail meanders along the volatile Rubicon River. You’ll pass through Rubicon Springs Campground at no charge unless you stop to camp or use facilities. Just when you think everything is over, you’re confronted by daunting Cadillac Hill and many more miles of rough road.

The trail is in good condition with several water crossings, the deepest of which was about 2 feet deep. Camped at Rubicon Springs. A few spots of patchy snow near Lake Tahoe which is easily passable and is melting fast.
