Overview

BLM says there are 27 creek crossings in this gorgeous canyon.

Onion Creek is a relaxing drive through a colorful, deep-cut canyon with distinctive rock formations. The BLM says there are 27 creek crossings. Open to unlicensed vehicles but nothing to explore off the main road. Do not drive in the creek except to cross it. Fee campground at start; no camping after 0.8 miles. The view of Fisher Towers can be enjoyed from Highway 128, but you can’t appreciate the size of the towers without getting close. Small parking and camping area at Wpt. 05.

Drove the trail today. Description on site is very accurate. The water levels currently are very low and all crossings were easily accessible. Was able to complete the trail in a 2020 Cherokee Trailhawk in totally stock configuration. Great views at several different spots.
