Short trail to incredible 10,000-ft. view of Mammoth Mountain Ski Area and the Minarets. Be courteous to hikers who frequent this road. When finished with this drive, consider visiting many other tourist attractions in the area, including Minaret Vista Picnic Area, Devils Postpile, Minaret Summit, Twin Lakes, Twin Falls and Lake Mary. Many Forest Service campgrounds nearby. Consult Inyo National Forest Map. Although the road is open to green-sticker vehicles, except for the view, there’s not much here to ride. All side roads are closed.

Some maps may show this trail as the San Joaquin Ridge Trail. The condition of this trail is pretty good and yields wonderful views of the Mammoth area, White and Inyo Mountains, Minarets and various mountains of the Eastern Sierras. Take binoculars and your camera. There isn’t too much parking at the top so if you’re are going in a large jeep group you may take turns ascending the final leg. This was the final run for the trip to the Eastern Sierras and we will do this one again.
