From beginning to end, this trail is fun to drive. You’ll start in a challenging rocky wash, then meander along scenic mountain slopes with great views of the valley below. Visit historic mining remains, including Gold King Mansion, a few feet from the trail. You are allowed to walk through the structure; just make sure you leave it the way you find it. The trail ends at Hualapai Mountain Road after a pleasant drive through a thick forested area.

This trail was difficult before, but it’s now extreme. I attempted it in my stock Wrangler Sport but had to turn back after 1.4 miles. I didn’t even get to the Gold King Mansion. The main entrance is actually 0.1 miles farther south on Blake Ranch Road than is shown in the book. There’s a kiosk and sign that says “Technical 4WD Trail” and it’s marked BLM Road 7200. We’ll be going back soon with a bigger Jeep to run the whole trail with the local 4WD club.

Moss Wash mileage Log remarks, and notation on the map, at mile 6.2, waypoint 04, is in error when indicated early trail exit road is 7200A. This three-way intersection is clearly marked for roads 7209, 7200A and 7200. Road 7200 initially heads from waypoint 04 and is clearly the more heavily used road. It proceeds on an easy track similar to map to reach Hualapai Mountain Trail at N35° 01.720′ W113° 54.293’. Road 7200 is also clearly marked as such at its’ intersection with Hualapai Mountain Trail. Road 7200A heads approximately .6 miles to dead end at N35° 02.119′ W113° 54.264’. This is .15 miles short of, and 300 feet below, Hualapai Mountain Trail.
