Challenging mountain loop begins in the historic mining town of Chloride, then proceeds to the colorful painted rock murals by Roy Purcell. After that, the four-wheeling fun begins. Great trail for non-street-legal ATVs and UTVs. The friendly folks at the Mineshaft Market allow parking in their lot behind the store; just ask for permission. Commercial camping available in town at the Chloride Western RV Park. High scenic views looking west.

The trail immediately after the murals has been graded, it is now passable by almost any vehicle. The grading goes for about a half-mile and then the trail actually starts. The trail is now easy, maybe moderate. The Mineshaft Market is permanently closed.

This trail was already rated difficult, but it’s gotten even harder. It’s actually graded smooth shortly after the Murals, but you soon bear left off this easy road where the difficulty begins. Make sure you stop in at the Mineshaft Market, still going strong. They offer free trailer parking in their lot. Just ask them where to park.
