Overview

Half-day trail with just enough challenge to be fun.

This is a great half-day trip with just enough challenge to make it fun. If you go following heavy rains, you might see a waterfall at Deadman Springs, but most of the time, thick vegetation is the only sign of water there. Our Safari group had lunch at a large slickrock area at Wpt. 06. From this spot, you get a distant view of Secret Spire if you take a short hike north to the edge of Spring Canyon.

Trail Ratings Defined

Much of the trail is easy, but low-slung SUVs might catch a rear bumper going down several small ledges. One spot in particular at Wpt. 07 seemed to catch many drivers off guard when they failed to go over the ledge on an angle. Just go slowly and let your rear bumper drop down gently.

Based on the new BLM management plan, the short section between the main trail and Waypoint 04 is hiking only. Out and back to see the distant view of Secret Spire between Waypoint 5 and 6 is closed.
