Move at your own pace along this less-traveled route that provides respite from Moab’s hot summers. Enjoy broad views in every direction from high viewpoints. See abandoned mine ruins. Involves long, scenic drives going in and coming out. Unlicensed vehicles are legal; however, there are just a few side roads to explore. Watch for mountain bikers following the Kokopelli Trail. Great fall color.

Just drove this today (10/20/23) after completing Onion Creek. I’d consider upping the rating to moderate. A few of the steep climbs have decent ledges, maybe bottom end of moderate, but still moderate. We ran into a group of other wheelers who had your book, but had stopped because they thought surely this wasn’t the “easy” trail described in the book!

The trail is impassable once you get to the La Sal National Forest. Deep snow still covers the road. We were lucky to make it to waypoint 3 to turn around, but not after getting stuck a few times. The trail is easy but would be challenging for a beginner.
We drove this trail after completing Trail #53 Onion Creek. Drove the trail in a completely stock 2020 Cherokee Trailhawk....See More
