Overview

Three-way fork goes to camping and hiking.

This is a small multi-use area with lots of easily accessible dispersed camping. The best camping area is near the end of the main route. It’s a high point with great views and lots of room for family camp outs and club get togethers. Kids can ride their ATVs and dirt bikes without getting lost. Stay on existing roads and watch for horseback riders. There is a small parking area for staging at the start. Trail is open longer than most from May 15 to Jan. 30.

Roller-coaster twists and turns at the start, with occasional rocky spots that are easy to get over. Ends of trails have more embedded rock, making for a rougher, but still easy, ride.

The road hasn’t changed at all, but when I got to the parking lot at the Alpine Visitor Center at the top, the traffic in the lot was total gridlock. People trying to get into the lot from Trailridge Road were blocking people trying to get out. I sat there for 45 minutes before things finally got moving.
