This is a short loop that wanders up and down the mountainside through mostly dense trees. Limited views in a few places. Several side roads to explore. Good area for ATVs and UTVs. More room to camp and unload on the east end of the trail at Waypoint 05. If you have driven Ballard Road, Trail #17, you may have noticed a sign for Greer Road branching off from that trail. This portion does not connect to the Greer Road described here because private property blocks the connection. This trail is open all year although may not be passable when snow covered.

Greer Road itself is very short and is after a long drive on Buckhorn Road, a very smooth dirt road. By the time the trail starts, it’s practically over, where you meet with a gate over the trail, saying residents only, no exceptions.

It was not as muddy this time and seemed easier. We noticed F.S. 154A, after Waypoint 02 (the way we drove it in 2010) has a gap on the MVUM, however, the road is definitely there and well traveled. We will revise this trail in the next edition to go left at Waypoint 02. Both routes are equally easy and scenic.
