Trail traverses a rugged area of craggy canyons and old mines. The eastern half is surprisingly scenic with great views of the La Sal Mountains. The trail winds through the heart of Area BFE (described next) and provides a glimpse of entrance and exit points of the challenging trails. Strike Ravine is well suited for ATVs and UTVs. We took our Polaris RZR through and had a great time.

A group of experienced RZR riders drove most of Strike Ravine. It was challenging in parts as several days of rain had caused washouts and there were many large boulders that had rolled down onto the trail. We drove the route backward from Point 11 and found that after Point 7, at the bottom of Strike Ravine, the trail is blocked by barbed wire and in any event, the climb out of the ravine looked as if it would have been too much for our RZRs. We did not drive the route from point 1 to point 12, so there may be signs after waypoint 6 saying the trail is closed. So we backtracked north from the ravine, found a cut-through road heading west, intersecting the route between Points 4 and 5, and drove north back to point 4 and then CR129 to the start point where we left the trailers.

Since much of Strike Ravine went through Area BFE, which is now closed, Strike Ravine is essentially closed too. The Red Rock 4-Wheelers are working on a new route to avoid Area BFE, but that might take a while to implement.
