Overview

Easy pass road has great camping.

Pleasant drive over relatively low pass. Forest campground and many great dispersed camp spots along South Fork of South Platte River and Big Union Creek. Good fishing. Several hiking trails lead to the nearby Buffalo Peaks Wilderness. Wildflowers. Good fall color.

This is an easy pass and it was open. Will need some high clearance in a few spots. Snow was covering the road on the west side. Nothing too deep though. Stock 4 runner limited had no issue.

Unlicensed vehicles are not allowed on the east side of Weston Pass. Signage is installed at top of pass stating ‘NO UNLICENSED VEHICLES ALLOWED ON EAST SIDE OF WESTON PASS”.

Open from the East side. The trail is free of snow until the last two-tenths of a mile where there is a drift a couple hundred feet long and about three feet deep blocking the trail. The alternate route (162) part way up is covered in snow within the tree cover.
