Enjoy panoramic views that include Arches National Park, Merrimac Butte and Castle Valley. Scenic lunch spot on optional side trip to Doug’s Point above Thompson Springs. Visit ghost town of and climb to high point at end of Sego Canyon. Picnic near Indian pictographs. ATVs and UTVs can stage just north of pavement at Waypoint 07 (see staging symbol on map). Stay on designated routes at all times and avoid Wilderness Study Area.

We took this trail in May 2019. After stopping at the petroglyphs, cemetery, and Sego ghost town, we did a side trip up Thompson Canyon road. About a Mile and a half up the canyon, there are several miners shanties and a covered dome oven on the left. Cool to see the different styles of small structures. We then went out to Doug’s Point. Sad to see that the forest at BLM331 to the East side of the road to Doug’s Point has been completely clear cut, which made discerning the trail difficult in a few points. Other than that, this is a great trail, with everything ranging from forest trails to cliff views, to moonscapes. 👍
